LIVING ADORNMENTS GALLERY SHOW

as many of you know, i have been working on my thesis this quarter. i have been keeping the images under wraps because i just so happened to get a solo show at garfield artworks on june 26th. if you get a chance, stop by and join us. there will be lots of talented people to mingle with. your support means more than you could imagine.

im supposed to be writing a paper for my american literature class right now, but im more interested in letting you all know how my trip to NYC was.

as im sure most of you have assumed, it was amazing. this was my first trip to the city by myself, therefore, i had to pilot on my own. i successfully figured out how to use the subway, hail a cab and navigate central park by my lonesome. and to top that off, both of my photo shoots went wonderfully. the girls that i worked with were so great. we were done with our shoots early, so i

had a bunch of free time to hangout with my darling friend ali (the lovely and talented model/actress from my last blog post). she took me on a little tour of times square and midtown! :)

though it was chilly, i brought home a little bit of sunburn. looking at it reminds me that there is something greater for me out there than the current place that i am in. that is the only thing currently keeping me going through these finals.

thursday night, i am leaving for a weekend trip. i will be in DC on friday, boston on saturday, back to DC on sunday for the afternoon, and then heading back to pittsburgh.

oh, and i heard that it is going to snow tomorrow? this has to be a joke.

i recently, i found out that my image of andrea kelly was selected as a finalist in photographer's forum magazine's college photography contest and will be published in the hardcover book, best of college photography 2011. also, my image of ali fink is currently in use on her imdb profile. :)

i am heading to NYC this weekend for a few photo shoots, after doing another one in my living room on friday. haha! im doing a great job at utilizing this new house! while in NYC, i have the opportunity to work with a makeup artist, who is currently here from england! :) i am very excited! next week are my finals, then i will be heading to DC and boston for the weekend for more shoots and some me time. i know that everyone worries about me, but i actually really enjoy traveling alone.

i plan on taking april off from traveling, so i can stop neglecting the people that i want to work with in pittsburgh. but i hope to plan more shoots in NYC and other surrounding cities in may, while working on my thesis.

i think those are all of the big updates that i have for right now. i will let you all know how the NYC trip goes!

now that im back, all i can think about is doing something different. so, i recently just booked a bunch of trips and i am in the process of setting up shoots in a few different cities. if anyone has any contacts that they think i should talk to or meet up with, give them my email. here is my schedule this far:

DC: 2/24, 3/25, and 3/27.

NYC: 3/19.

BOSTON: 3/26.

the times that i will be at these places varies, but i plan on doing as much shooting as possible and enjoying myself. im sure it isnt much of a shock to everyone, but i really enjoy traveling solo.

im baaack.

as some of you already know, i took last quarter off from school. many different reasons came together to make my decision. instead of dwelling on it, lets concentrate on the new year and the restart of my work. i cannot begin to describe how excited i am to shoot again. it starts tomorrow! i will be posting new work and news soon!

aip student show.

the art institute holds an annual student show, and this year, one of my images was chose to be shown. the gallery reception is on wednesday, august 4th at 5:30PM in the art institute gallery. it would be nice to see your beautiful faces there! though, if you cant make it, the exhibit will hang at the school from then until september 28th, then will be moved to the gallery at the mall at robinson.

summer update.

again, i have failed to keep you all updated on what i have been up to. boo. im sure that no one is all that suprised, though. so lets do this.

at the end of june, i went to vegas for a week with my parents and brother. i learned two very important things: one, that no human should spend an entire week in vegas. and two, that the longer you walk to something, the closer you do not get. take a cab. every shoot that i tried to set up, fell through. but thats okay! i needed a vacation and i had a blast with my favorite people in the world. we spent alot of time on fremont street, so here are some images from there. (ps - these are shot with my wide angel lens that does not get enough use.)

some of you may know that my brother plays baseball at clarion university. he also plays a few summer leagues, while on break from school. he recently started playing for an aaaba team, in kersey. so i went home over my short summer break to watch the boys play and to see him pitch. he requested that i brought my camera home. haha! so i figured i would throw a few of those up too.

sadly, i guess that is all that i really have to say for now. the summer quarter started last week, so i have been busy with new concepts and booking those shoots. there are some pretty exciting shoots that will be coming up in the next couple of months! im so pumped about them! :)
